Who
are we? My name is Jolanda Achterberg,
together with my husband Marcel I have been breeding Nova Scotia
Duck Tolling Retrievers under the kennelname "Canna Dea's" since
2006.
Our love for the Toller has grown since we
bought our first Toller Brennan in 1997, I has become a
true passion. After our second dog Kelvin, we switched to the
ladies. We currently have three females Marit, Frida and Izzy. Marit
gave birth to three litters in 2006-2008-2010 and is now retired.
We hope to continue breeding in the future with Frida and Izzy.
What's important to us?
For our breeding program health and temperament
in our dogs are the most important things. All our dogs used for
breeding are tested on eye, hip and ellbow problems. Our dogs
are DNA tested for prcd-PRA and CEA/ch. That way we can
guarantee that our puppies will not suffer from this eye disease.
We also test for a mutation of the SOD1 gene that may be a risk
factor for developing degenerative myelopathy (DM) Since 2010 we
test for goniodysplasie. And we use
the test on dilute to avoid the buff colors which are not
allowed in the breed standard.
Certified breeder
Certified breeder since March 22th 2009 we participate in the
pilot for certified breeders. The Raad van Beheer (FCI member)
would like to start this certification system in 2010. For Puppy
buyers this certification offers a bit of security that
the breeder is breeding careful and in accordance with
breed-specific breeding rules.

Optimal socialization
When you consider to buy a toller from us, please note that
there might be a waiting list. We do not breed frequently (every
other year a litter if possible) We ensure that each litter gets
our full attention and the puppies are well socialized. Our
puppies are always born in the living room and grow up in and
around the house.
What we ask from you?
We find it very important that our puppies 'well end up'.
Therefore we always want to meet the prospective buyers
personally before we places them on the waiting list. So if you
are interested in a Toller from our kennel, please contact us
for an appointment. We take the time to provide you with
information about this special breed and to answer your
questions.
We prefer owners who want to work with there dog,
preferably retriever training but it can also be another sport where the
Toller can use his mental and physical energy. We do not sell dogs to
people who work full-time, exhaust service is no appropriate solution
for us. Certainly the first two years are important for the education
and growth requires sufficient time Qty available |
